Dance and Movement - 13th May 2022

Spontaneous: This morning the Joeys and Possums were joined in the Possums yard for a play. I asked the children if they wanted some music to Dance too. The children said "yes". Daphne asked for the song "the floor is lava". So I put on the song the floor is Lava and the children were dancing to it, they followed the directions of the song. When the song was over one of the educators put on some children pop songs and Daphne and Alex went and held one of the Joeys hands and danced with them. Alex held Lucas hand, Daphne held Mila's hand and Pico held Asna 's and who is one of the younger possum children . Garang, Grace, Jenayah, Nevaeh, Tevita, Jude, Marlee , Mun, Novia, Nathan, Lucas, Aarvi, Laye, Daniel, Emilia, Elya, Prisha, Hunter, Rudra, Salo and Jayden all joined in the dancing and moved along to the music and Gok was playing on his own and when he heard the music Gok decided to start dancing along with the music. The children all had their individual dance moves and they listened carefully to the music to keep in time. Then baby shark song came on and all the children along with their educators did the moves to the song. The children love the part when it says run away and they all run all over the place. When the music was finished the children all went off to play in different parts of the yard.

Service Philosophy

We value children's rights and choices. We are responsive to the interests and abilities of all children.

Interpretation

Critical reflection I was able to provide an open ended activity which allowed the children to have the freedom to do dance and move how they wanted. It was a great gross motor activity for the children because it got everyone up and moving. The children were allowed to express their feelings and emotions through dancing. Follow up more music and movement activities.reflection
