Drawing and water play - 18th November 2021

Spontaneous:

This morning the children were engaging in a drawing activity at the outdoor table. They were excited to draw with the texta's. The babies tried to draw and also tried to put the texta's into their mouth. Pilar drew on her paper and took that paper to each and every educator and showed her picture to them. Hunter did a bit of drawing and then got interested in tasting the texta's. Elya waited patiently for her turn and did dots on her paper by using the texta's. Everleigh was very much interested in drawing. She drew on a few papers. Lucas came and sat on another table and started drawing after getting encouragement from educators. After the drawing activity I decided to set up a water play activity for the children since the weather is warm today. I filled the shell tub with water, We removed the shoes and socks for the children and the children had a fun play till it was nappy time.

This learning experience can be linked to Maslow's theories. He believes that if educators help children to meet their physical need and emotional needs then they will grow into strong, resilient and competent adults.

Interpretation

Critical reflection: I helped setup the waterplay activity since the weather is warmer today and children always love water play. I supported children in a positive way in turn takings and sharing the resources. Follow up: More water play activities since summer is coming.
