Exploring our indoor environment - 10th June 2021
Spontaneous:
This morning due to the cold and rainy weather we stayed inside and did lots of exploring. As the children came in, they chose what they wanted to play with, Elya was happy exploring by herself today and seeing what she could find. she really enjoyed the sensory boxes which she could shake and pulled them up to her mouth she enjoyed trying different ones with the different sounds.
We also put out the drawing implements which was Jenayah's request. Neveah, Pippa and Aarvi joined her at the table also wanting to draw pictures using different colours also using their imagination to make something creative.
Educator Sandra found some soft fall climbing blocks and set it up, the Joeys went straight to climbing onto it and were so excited. They all took turns climbing over it whether they walked, crawled or tried to run across, this allowed them to move around and climb whilst inside. The children here were able develop their gross motor, balance movement and coordination skills.
While children were exploring Jude was sitting down on our group time mat where he started singing 'open shut them' Sandra noticed him singing so she came over to sing with him for some support and he loved it then asking to sing 'old MacDonald had a farm.' The children have really enjoyed exploring their environments and sharing with their friends.

The children have used curiosity and confidence while exploring their room.
Theorists
John Dewey He believed that children need to interact with other people, work both alone and cooperatively with their peers and adults. Educators need to be able to guide children's learning, engage their minds, and work collaboratively with children and not just instruct.
Interpretation
Critical reflection- We were able to support and encourage the children through free play and provide open ended experiences for them to explore and enjoy. Follow up- More indoor climbing equipment and to get the ball pit out.
