Indoor play - 18th January 2022
Spontaneous: Today it was raining so we had to play inside. All the children were very busy. Lucas, Jenayah, Abuk, Pilar, Nathan all chose to play in home corner. Lucas was pretending to cook some food . Jenayah and Abuk were standing at the play kitchen stove and fridge and Abuk was putting the kettle on the stove and Jenayah was putting food in the fridge. Nathan, Kavith, Isaiah, Nevaeh, Marlee and Jack came over to the magnetic blocks and I showed the children how the blocks stuck together and then the children had a turn. I asked the children what colours they were and Kavith said" Red" and Nevaeh said" yellow" ,Marlee said " big house" so I showed her how to build a house with the blocks and Marlee helped. Elya decided to play with a doll and she was trying to wrap the doll up in a blanket, Jenayah had moved on from home corner to another toy, Hunter sat down at the drawing table and chose to draw on paper. Aarvi chose to play with the water timers . Huda played with the wooden blocks and built a tower of 6 blocks then knocked them over. Elijah sat next to Aarvi and picked up a banana and just held it. Some of the children discovered the dress up box Hunter was the first to get a dress up out. He got the octopus dress out and with help put it on, Lucas got out the dolphin dress up out and put it on with help, Jack got out the sea horse and put it on with help whilst Pilar got out a princess dress and put it on with help. After a short while Hunter wanted the octopus dress up off and wanted the wonder woman dress up on with the assistance of staff, they helped Hunter put on the dress. Jenayah picked up the octopus dress up and wanted it on.

Interpretation
Critical reflectionI was able to setup stimulating environment for the children to explore and have choice in what they play with. Home corner provides the children with opportunities to use their imagination and use their knowledge in what they already know. I was able to engage with the children in their play and provide them with intentional teaching with the magnetic blocks. I asked the children about the different colours and I was able to show them how the magnetic blocks stick together. Follow up Cause and effect activities
