Inside rainy day play - 24th August 2021

Spontaneous:

This morning we put out some magnictic tiles for the children to explore. Calab started to make a building along side of Pilar. Calab was really lovely he was encouraging Pilar by saying to her put it on this one or put it over here. The two children were playing together nicely when Hunter came along and smashed it down. Calab didn't get upset he understood that Hunter is still learning to share. Caleb and Pilar continued to play together by building the tower again. I supported Hunter in building with the other children and encouraging him to share. Over on the table I noticed Lorenzo was playing with the magna doodle and I noticed that he was moving the alphabet tiles around the edge while singing to himself. Calab was still playing with the magnetic blocks and said to Sam "look it's a rocket!" pointing to his work. He even came over and showed me that his magnictic piece was a triangle. Caleb was very proud of his work.

Theorists

This learning experience can be linked to Piaget's theories. He believes that children need to be able to see, touch, taste, smell, move and hear the things they are learning about. This is called concrete learning.

Interpretation

Critical Reflection: By providing the materials for the children I was able to promote fine motor manipulation and strength.
