Movement Dice - 5th July 2023
Planned: Today Koala Corner celebrated Australian culture through dance. We started off the experience labelling the different animals on the dice. Our Koala Corner peers were able to confidently identify the kangaroo, snake and crocodile with the platypus, Emu and kookaburra not as well known. We then moved on to the challenging part of the experience, where the children were asked dance like each animal. Alpha led the experience where she demonstrated to the group the different moves they can use for each animal. Lots of smiles and laughter as the children followed the moves they were shown. As a combined group, our Possums took some initiative and care towards their fellow Joey peers supporting and engaging them in the experience. It's wonderful to see our Koala peers learning and enjoy their time together.

Interpretation
Critical Reflection: We decided not to roll the dice on the floor due to the dice not being sturdy enough, instead we decided to label them as a group which turned out well. I was a little surprised that the older children weren't fully aware of the proper names of some of the animals. The children enjoyed the experience which was demonstrated as they stayed in the experience and how they participated by following the moves that were shown. Overall the experience went very well, at the end the children requested a dance party. Follow Up: Explore Australian animals to further extend children's knowledge.
