Spontaneous: Today the Joeys all sat together on the mat for group time, Hunter was more interested in the baby toys, Sandra and I encouraged Hunter to sit with his peers, Hunter wasn't interested. I got the 'five cheeky monkeys' felt pieces with a felt board. Elliot was excited to see the five cheeky monkeys and mrs crocodile that he went and sat with his friends. I asked the children 'if they knew a song about monkeys'. Nathan shouted, ' cheeky monkeys'. Ayaan was sitting with Sandra, I asked the Joeys to show me their five fingers. Pilar was able to hold up two fingers, I encouraged and assisted Pilar to hold up five fingers. With the joeys we all began to sing the 'five cheeky monkeys' song. We sang and counted in sequence as miss crocodile ate all the monkeys off the tree. I used a lots of facial expressions to entertained the joey children I did noticed that Ayaan was more interested and engaged in the action of the monkeys. Jayden, Dylanjot, Abuk, Annalise, Sean and Lucas were very engage, they all laughed every time I made funny faces especially Abuk.

Critical Reflection: For group time the educators always set up interesting activities and experiences for the children to learn from, it was the interactions with the educator they enjoys the most. Asking open-ended questions encouraged the children use their expressive language . I was able to recognize mathematical understandings that children bring to learning and build on these in ways that are relevant to each child. Follow Up: More felt board nursery songs
