Taking shoes off - 20th June 2022

Planned: Toady we started our self help skills project. At the Joeys group time before sleep time we asked the Joeys to come and sit down in a group. The Joey room educators talked to the Joeys about what our self help skill project and what we were going to do. We talked to the children about washing their hands after going to the toilet, before and after eating and taking own shoes and socks off before sleep showing children how to take own Jumpers off and if children are . After the little talk with the children we asked the children to take off their shoes and socks. Elya, Lucas, Jack, Kavith, Marlee, Pilar, Hunter and Tilly all proceeded to take their shoes and socks off with no help. Once they had their shoes and socks off they put them into a small bundle ready to go inside for rest time. Aladeng and Sophia both needed help to take off their shoes and socks, Once all shoes and socks were off the children then the educators helped to take off the children's jumpers as this is a much harder task to do but with continuous help and learning the children will able to eventually be able to achieve this themselves and take off their own Jumpers. When all jumpers were removed Kavitha and Sonal went inside and I sent the children inside for rest time as the children went inside they helped to put their things in their lockers. Then they went and laid down.

EYLF Outcomes

Outcomes: 1: Children have a strong sense of identity Elements: 1.1 Children feel safe, secure, and supported. The educators supported the children to take their shoes and socks off and Jumpers off then place them into their lockers.

Theorists

Vygotsky's theory also introduced the concept of the zone of proximal development, which is the gap between what a person can do with help and what they can do on their own. It is with the help of more knowledgeable others that people are able to progressively learn and increase their skills and scope of understanding.

Interpretation

Critical reflectionAs the educator I was able to scaffold the children's learning by helping and showing them how to take their shoes and socks off. I also supported the children with helping to take their jumpers off. Follow up Continue with self help skill project
